12 Mile Course description:
Starts at the north end of New Brighton State Beach where paddlers will head out past the kelp beds and toward Pleasure Point. Once outside of Pleasure Point the course follows along the coast passing by the beautiful Santa Cruz Harbor and the infamous Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. As you approach the Santa Cruz Wharf, the course makes a hard left turn around a buoy then straight out toward the middle of the Monterey Bay, before making another hard left turn around the mile buoy. Once you round the mile buoy, choose whatever course you wish to get back to the finish line as quickly as possible.
