First Prone Board

"So far I’m really enjoying this board. I’ve had it out seven or eight times and it seems to tick all the boxes. But, this is my first prone paddle board so I can’t compare it to a full fiber glass version. It seems fast in the water. It is narrow, so the balance takes a minute to catch the hang of. I would recommend it if you need a solution that is easy to move around and store."

Overall great!

"Bought this after using a friend’s hard shell bark. I’ve been enjoying paddling around the puget sound! I do wish there was more of a chest ramp and that there was a carry handle or something since I usually walk about a half mile with it to the water, but overall pretty darn satisfied."

Great board

"I’ve been doing the prone thing for a couple of decades and some ass stole my Velzy so I had to buy a new paddle board. I chose the Commander Air because it was my least expensive option, plus I could deflate & store it inside my house. When it arrived I was like, “what the heck, this thing looks like glued-together blow-up mattress”. But when I took it out the first day on a choppy 17mph windy day on the ocean I could not believe it. Seriously, first of all, it did not feel like I was lying on something that was inflated with air. Secondly that thing held a straight line. I mean it was stable and sliced through the water really nicely. At the same time I felt it was easier to maneuver than my previous board making course adjustments pretty easy. On a subsequent outing that was calm and flat the board felt really fast and efficient. I don’t know how they made this thing work so well but they did. This thing far exceeded my expectations. No only that, but it’s much easier to carry than my previous board which was pretty darn heavy. The only negative I see is possibly the finish. I put it down on a gravel parking lot and some of the blue just scratched off. I guess I’ll have to be more careful. Anyway, it’s a keeper and I highly recommend this Bark. I just hope it lasts a long long time because unfortunately I’m not made of money."

Great Board

"Very stable as a prone paddle board. Easy to inflate and deflate for travel. So far - very durable."

Great board, possible quality issues

"This is the first prone board I have ever paddled so I cannot say how it compares to others. I'm coming from a SUP background using all inflatables. So far, I am very pleased with the performance of this board. It is a bit tippy to get used to, but likely much more forgiving than a comparable hard board. It is faster than I expected given that it is powered solely by your arms/hands. The deck pad is thick and quite comfortable. The raised chest area and "knee wells" are what really sold me on this one. They definitely improve both comfort and confidence while paddling. I also like the fact that it has deck bungee instead of another fin box for a bottle cage. I paddle with a hydration pack so this allows me to carry a small dry bag on the deck or strap down a larger deck bag. I have found I prefer to swap out the fin for something shorter in windy conditions. Being an inflatable, the nose tends to get blown around a bit. Keeping the tail looser seems to help compensate for that and help me paddle straighter. The reason I am giving a 4-star rather than 5-star review is because I had some quality concerns with the board I received. There were some blemishes that just simply should not have been there on a board at this price point. However, Surftech customer service was super friendly and helpful. They worked with me to achieve a quick and satisfactory resolution. Thanks to their stellar customer service, I feel confident recommending this board to anyone looking to try prone paddling or just wanting a compact and durable prone board to travel with and take places you wouldn't want to risk a hard board. If this sounds like what you're looking for, BUY ONE!!!"

COMMANDER - AIR TRAVEL

"Great board. Feels as fast as the rigid Commander, while being more stable because of the flat bottom. Handles choppy upwind and downwind conditions without problem. Looking forward to paddling remote places on various oceans and continents."

Good but not like the real deal

"It is a great board for training but if you are serious about the sport it may not be the most competitive. Stability is great but struggles a bit with direction since it has a more round bottom and tail than the non inflatable counterparts"

Bark Commander 12’ Inflatable (Airport)

"This is my first paddle board of any kind. It fits very nicely into a well designed and crafted backpack with intelligent cinch points and very comfortable shoulder straps. It zips up easily when the paddle board is fully deflated. Best pack away method is to fold from the fin box first and then roll it up toward the nose. This is opposite of the best direction to deflate it, which is by folding from the nose as you hold the deflation button down on the tail, which takes just a bit of a stretch. Inflating with the included pump works efficiently and effectively, even if it’s a bit of a strain to reach the recommendation for PSI. After 3 times manual inflating, it has become less of a hassle. The manual pump is a workhorse that needs a willing partner, if you will. Paddling is sublime on it, at least on a windswept lake. I have paddled on two sections of the same lake on windy days and cut through boat wakes with absolute ease. I am new to paddling and have just begun building strength in this area for the first time, and I can make this board go places on the water quite quickly and smoothly. It’s very well crafted. Think Zodiac. Very seaworthy. It’s light on water while being very sturdy and steady with the provided fin. It’s light in the backpack and easy to store at home. It’s a great prone paddle board that is well worth the cost and I am very delighted with my purchase."
