The Synthetic 84 is a throwback with modern firepower—a tribute to Timmy Patterson’s early shaping days in the 1980s when he launched his original Synthetic Surfboards label and worked alongside the legendary Damian Brawner. Drawing from the best elements of those classic designs, Timmy has infused this model with today’s high-performance sensibilities, creating a board that blends retro inspiration with cutting-edge function.
Positioned perfectly between the Rising Sun and a full high-performance shortboard, the Synthetic 84 fills the gap many surfers have been searching for. It features a fuller outline, flat deck, and beak nose for added volume, while the down rails and bump squash or bump round tail options keep it agile and responsive in critical sections. A low rocker and subtle bottom contours—flat to single, then slight double to vee off the tail—make for smooth acceleration, fast transitions, and reliable control.
What truly brings this design to life is Surftech’s Fusion Pro EPS/Epoxy construction.
